If you are using Mac or Linux, you can skip this step and go straight to the next page.
Before you begin the root process, you need to make sure your computer can communicate with your Huawei G300. You need to install the USB drivers.

From your phone, go to Settings -> Applications -> Development (or Settings -> Developer options if you are on ICS)

Make sure USB debugging is ticked.

Now go back to your PC. Download Huawei_G300_drivers.exe and save it to your Desktop.

Once the download has completed, run Huawei_G300_drivers.exe.

Follow the onscreen instructions to install.

Follow the steps in
Huawei_G300_drivers.exe in order to install the drivers

Once installed, click the Start button, enter SystemPropertiesHardware.exe into the search box and press enter (or click SystemPropertiesHardware.exe from the results)

Press Enter or click SystemPropertiesHardware.exe

Click Device Installation Settings

Click
Device Installation Settings.

Select No, let me choose what to do

Select Install driver software from Windows Update if it is not found on my computer

Click Save Changes

Choose the highlighted options and then click
Save Changes

Turn your phone on, and connect it to your PC with the USB cable. Ignore any driver installation errors Windows may show.

Now go back to your PC. Download Huawei_G300_drivers.exe and save it to your Desktop.

Select Check for drivers automatically (recommended) and then click OK.

Turn your phone on, and connect it to your PC with the USB cable. Ignore any driver installation errors Windows may show.
There are a lot of driver problems with the Huawei G300 and Windows XP. Some Windows XP users have reported no issues at all, however quite a few cannot get their G300 to communicate with their Windows XP computer. We recommend you use a Windows Vista, Windows 7, Mac or Linux computer,
